A Note From Pastor Carl In Pembroke (The Pembroke Post) February 07th/2010
Hello again from Pembroke! It has been some time since my last post, and I want to just let folks know that we are still here and busy in the work. My Dad passed away on Tuesday morning, February 2nd at about 10 a.m. I want to thank all those that have been praying for him and my family during his lengthy illness, and we look forward to seeing him again in Heaven. That is our hope and that is what makes such a parting bearable. I don't know how folks deal with such things without the assurance of Heaven. Pray also for my Mom as she adjusts to this change in her life. I know the LORD will get her through.
I would ask you to continue to pray for the Brennan family. This family was first contacted through our VBS last summer and they have come out some, but have been absent for a few weeks now. Bill was going to head over to Afghanistan to work as a civilian but at the last minute that plan changed. He is a carpenter and has been looking for work. Pray that we can have a greater influence for the LORD with these folks. Pray also as I continue to see Justin Pagani learn and grow in his walk with the LORD, and Justin's friend, Steve West, who has begun coming out regularly also. Justin has a real heart for his friends to be saved and to grow in the LORD.
The Alexanders are doing well in Arizona. Matt has been given an opportunity to have a weekly radio program on a local Christian station. Pray that this may be a vehicle to get the Gospel out and reach many homes
and hearts with the Word of God. We were also appreciative of the nice floral arrangement they had sent to the funeral home for Dad. The folks here in Pembroke had one sent down as well.
I found it very comforting and encouraging to have so many visit at the funeral home and then come out to the funeral. I preached the message and it was the hardest message I have ever preached. However, there were many praying and I felt free to preach what the LORD wanted me to say and I trust that the words spoken were just what He wanted me to say. Pray that the lost in attendance will recognize their need to trust in the LORD for their Salvation. There truly is no other hope in this world without Christ. I'm thankful that Dad had trusted in the LORD back when he was a young teen.
Our family is doing well as Kimberley continues to teach the kids. Matthew is finished his Co-op with the police so now it is back to being a full-time student again. He is planning to go to a Bible college in
Chesterton, Indiana next year so he is going to have to save up some money. After that he is planning right now to take a police foundations course and pursue policing. We want whatever the LORD wants for him, and would ask for pray in his decisions and to be led in God's way.
Well, that is all for now. I should have more to write after so long but that will do for now. I will try to be more faithful in writing these. Time just seems to slip by so quickly. I trust all of you are well and maybe
if you get any time you can let us know how things are with you. Oh, I also need to say hello to Brian. I didn't forget our conversation the day of Sarah's wedding.
Your friends and family in Christ,
Carl, Kimberley, Emilee & Nathan
